Mustang CAT & Houston Texans join forces for Special Teams for Special Needs Program

Mustang Cat, the Caterpillar equipment and engine dealer for Southeast Texas, has teamed up with the Houston Texans to sponsor a Special Teams for Special Needs program to help individuals struggling with mental and physical challenges. This program will begin with the 2014-2015 pre- and regular season Houston Texans home games.

“We are very excited about our partnership with the Houston Texans,” said Brad Tucker, president of Mustang Cat. “Partnering with the Texans will allow us to raise awareness of individual’s with mental and physical challenges. Supporting unique nonprofit programs in the greater Houston and Southeast Texas communities where our employees and customers live and work is an important part of who we are, and it seemed fitting to align ourselves with a great organization, like the Texans, that shares those same values.”

Each time the special teams of the Houston Texans scores a touchdown, field goal or an extra point, Mustang Cat will make a charitable contribution to the Brookwood Community. Brookwood, located 40 miles west of downtown Houston, is a nonprofit residential facility and vocational program for functionally disabled adults.

Game day patrons will be notified about Special Teams for Special Needs during the “What to Watch” segment via the video board at each Houston Texans home game. During the last home game, a final tally of donations collected will be displayed on the video board. After the season is over, Mustang Cat and the Houston Texans will present Brookwood Community leaders with a check for the total amount.

“We are proud to support Brookwood Community through our partnership with Mustang Cat,” said Houston Texans president Jamey Rootes. “The Houston Texans are committed to making a meaningful and positive impact throughout the community, and we are especially proud to help bring awareness and raise funds for individuals with special needs in the greater Houston area.”

In addition to the program, a Houston Texans special teams player will visit with citizens at the Brookwood Community on Tuesday, Sept. 23 along with representatives from Mustang Cat. Brookwood residents will have an opportunity to have the player sign autographs and take photos with the Texans player.

“Providing Brookwood citizens the chance to interact with a Houston Texans player is an important part of how the Special Teams for Special Needs program will give back to the community,” Tucker noted. “We couldn’t be more delighted to be part of this partnership.”
