Specialized Repair Service Solutions

In order to assure the highest quality, longest lasting rebuilt components, Mustang Tractor completely disassembles, cleans and inspects each unit, according to Caterpillar's rebuilding procedures. Each serviceman is factory trained on the specific components that he rebuilds. Mustang Tractor has specialists for various components such as:

Power Train Component Rebuild
Unlike a lot of our competitors in the southeast Texas area, Mustang Tractor rebuilds transmissions, final drives, torque converters and hydraulic power control units (HPCU's) for Caterpillar machines in house. This gives you and us the opportunity of exploring repair options available rather than only having one available option for a repair. In our component shop, we provide testing of all transmissions that we rebuild to insure you receive a quality product that you can depend on.

Engine Rebuild
Mustang Tractor has the service capability to rebuild and refurbish various engine components in our Power Systems Service department. With the expertise that comes with being the largest Caterpillar engine dealer on the Gulf Coast, you are assured of a high quality rebuilt engine for your Cat machine.

The rebuild process starts with the assemblies stripped and disassembled. All parts go through a cleaning process to strip old paint, grease and varnish from the components. Fuel systems, heads, turbochargers and governors are serviced in specialized areas with the fuel systems and governors tested on state-of-the-art test benches to provide accurate, adjustment-free performance.

After reassembly of the engine, the unit is then sent to a test cell for dyno-testing. The engine is run under load on our 2000 horsepower dynamometer to guarantee rated horsepower and proper break-in.

Hydraulic Service
As hydraulic systems become more sophisticated and complex, the necessity of dependable hydraulic service solutions are more and more important. We provide repair service and testing of Caterpillar pumps and motors.

For Hydraulic cylinders, we can service most hydraulic cylinders that you might have. For both Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar hydraulic cylinders, Mustang Tractor can provide repacking, light-honing and hard-honing services.

Undercarriage Service Center
Would you buy a set of tires for your vehicle and not have them balanced and alignment checked? Probably not, and you shouldn't do this with the undercarriage on your track-type machine. Rely on the experts at Mustang Tractor when it comes to undercarriage management, maintenance and replacement.

Mustang Tractor has eight service bays in our Houston operation dedicated to undercarriage system service. With 12 technicians with an average of 25 years in the undercarriage repair and maintenance business, we provide the most experience and expertise in undercarriage maintenance and repair in the industry.

The consistency of Caterpillar undercarriage system design and manufacturing and the expertise of undercarriage management provided by Mustang's Product Support Representatives, allows for the most comprehensive, cost-effective solutions in Southeast Texas.

We pay attention to detail when servicing your undercarriage. Whether we are performing a "wet turn" on SALT track, reshelling rollers, rebuilding idlers or following torque procedures for track shoe installation you are sure that approved Caterpillar guidelines are followed.

With the addition of Nexus Undercarriage, you can now get the superior service that Mustang Tractor provides for your non-Caterpillar machines as well. John Deere, Komatsu, Case and Kobelco are not a problem with Nexus.

Build and Bore Machining
Repairing of "out of round" bores used to require fabrication of a sleeve insert to restore a bore to original dimensions. This method is not simple, not cost-effective and in many instances doesn't last very long.

Mustang Tractor offers the solution of Building and Boring for this problem. Whether you have an "out of round" bore on any type machine, conveyor or structure, we can build them with weld material and bore them back to original dimensions. We have the capability and tooling to bore in excess of 16 inches diameters. Stop wear before it gets worse and causes additional downtime and expense.

This service is available in-shop and in the field for stationary structures.

Fabrication
Our fabrication shop is equipped with 15 MIG welders, 10 stick welders and a 2-inch plasma cutter. Mustang Tractor's certified welders build and repair buckets, blades, sticks, booms, motor grader circles, roller frames, loader towers and more. We also do custom fabricating to meet any customer requirement.
